Mr.Murari Raghavan began his legal career in the year 1976, in the chambers of Mr.T.Raghavan, one among the doyens in the field of corporate litigation.
Mr.Murari Raghavan soon built up a considerable practice in the area of commercial litigation, while simultaneously extending his expertise to corporate transactions. In addition to the Madras High Court, he appears regularly before a number of High Courts including the Karnataka High Court, the High Court of Kerala, the Delhi High Court, the Bombay High Court and also before the Supreme Court of India, and is known for the expertise he brings to complicate corporate disputes. He has extensively represented clients before the Company Law Board, the Debts Recovery Tribunal and the Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunal. He also has vast experience in the field of commercial arbitration with considerable experience in engineering and construction arbitrations, apart from commercial disputes. He advises some of the biggest corporate houses in India on commercial arbitration, with the practice areas spanning shareholder and investment disputes, construction and engineering arbitrations, power, and mining amongst others. He has also expanded his arbitration practice substantially in the recent years to include international commercial arbitration. The notable disputes he has handled and appeared in include – an infrastructural dispute relating to a water desalination plant, between Indian stakeholders and a Spanish conglomerate before the ICC, Paris; a commercial dispute between an Indian Joint Venture Company and its overseas shareholder before the ICC, London.
After a noteworthy practice in excess of 3 decades, Mr.Murari Raghavan was, in the year 2012, designated as a Senior Counsel of the Madras High Court.
